It expands upon the 2012 Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act of 2012 which was drafted specifically to punish Russian officials for the 2009 death of Sergei Magnitsky, a Russian tax lawyer who perished in a Moscow prison after investigating government fraud. The Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act was signed into law in late 2016 as part of the F17 Defense Authorization Act. Canonical gives administrators the chance to drag their feet a bit more on Ubuntu upgrades.Ubuntu 20.04 is beckoning and the small development team behind Ubuntu Touch admitted in a recent Q&A that would mean "we will have to leave some things behind." However, there is no getting away from the distinctly elderly 16.04 version of Ubuntu on which the operating system is based, despite the fixes applied in OTA-19.
